What to do in Arusha National Park

Classic game drives in 4×4 safari vehicles are the most popular activity. With the help of your experienced local guide, who knows the best spots for wildlife viewing and how to navigate the terrain safely, you’ll be set for an unforgettable adventure. This is an ideal spot for a day trip or the start of a longer safari journey.

But there’s even more to explore: For those looking for a more active experience, Arusha National Park offers walking safaris. Unlike many other national parks in Tanzania, Arusha allows you to explore on foot, thanks to its lower predator population.

A walking safari provides a unique chance to get close to wildlife and birdlife, observe moss-covered trees up close, and immerse yourself in the rich sounds, smells, and colors of the environment. Common sights on these walks include buffaloes, warthogs, giraffes, and various birds like the silvery-cheeked hornbill, little bee-eater, and occasionally the long-crested eagle. The walk also includes a visit to the refreshing Tululusia waterfalls before returning to the Momella gate.

The Momella Lakes

The Momella Lakes, located in the northeast, are shallow alkaline lakes with varying salt levels, creating an ideal habitat for flamingos. Depending on the season and water levels, you might witness large flocks of these graceful birds. Additionally, on the smaller Momella Lake, you can enjoy a serene canoe trip lasting about 2.5 to 3 hours. As you paddle, you’ll glide past herds of antelope and buffalo grazing along the shores, all while being guided by an experienced naturalist.

Arusha National Park offers a remarkable array of experiences, showcasing a stunning blend of flora, fauna, and diverse landscapes.
